Song of the Week 2: Remote-Controlled End

Remote-Controlled End is the first video single we released after putting the band back together. It’s also the song that caught WormHoleDeath Records’ attention.

Originally, Remote-Controlled End was the first of the three songs on our 1990 demo. The early version was likely written in the spring of 1990. We made the demo in the early summer that year and probably wanted to record the latest additions in our repertoire.

As I recall, the song was co-written by the whole band – I, Janne & Mika came up with the riffs, and Mika and Assu wrote the original lyrics. I (vaguely) remember coming up withe verse riff and the chorus chord progression, which Janne re-arranged in 2008, when the two of us briefly got back on the AF case. We re-built the song structure and Janne wrote the new middle section that’s in the album version.

It’s a cool tune, and damn catchy to boot!

REMOTE-CONTROLLED END

We need your brains!
We eat your brains!

Blasting live wire
Breaking down your will
Never to retire
Their existence is fulfilled

They stimulate the brain
The vicious screens of domination
And nothing’s ever lame
We only want more and more from them

Remote-controlled end
You must pretend
Your life through filter

Remote-controlled end
All time is spent
To steal information

Fast teleporting
Signal to the head
Devices control you
Creating the undead

They stimulate the brain
The vicious screens of domination
And nothing’s ever lame
We only want more and more from them

Remote-controlled end
You must pretend
Your life through filter

Remote-controlled end
All time is spent
To steal information

The end of conversation
Eternal scrolling nation
Dunning-Kruger abomination
Confirmation bias algorithm

Remote-controlled end
You must pretend
Your life through filter

Remote-controlled end
All time is spent
To steal information

We need your brains!
We eat your brains!
